General Information For Horse Exhibitors

RULES & REGULATIONS

Disciplinary Appeals Committee: Chief Ringmaster, Chief Steward, Chief PC Steward and two horse committee members.

Vehicles: will not be permitted on the grounds unless they have a stable booking which needs to be made online prior to the show. This includes day entry to the grounds.

District Events: Restricted to exhibits & exhibitors residing within the Rural City of Swan Hill & within 50 km of Swan Hill or are members of the Swan Hill or Nyah Pony Clubs. Must have resided within area for past three months.

Prize Money not collected within two weeks of the show shall be forfeited.

Prize money is paid out only on complete & signed vouchers, please check before leaving the ring. 

Rules: VAS Ltd, Equestrian Victoria & Swan Hill District A & P Society Inc. rules apply. The committee reserves the right to alter the program if necessary.

All falls regardless of injury must be lodged with the Secretary on an incident report form.

Lunging: No lunging on the arena after 8.30am each day.

Entries Close: 11:59pm Thursday 25th of September.

Horse Entry: All entries to be done through Showday online via our website www.swanhillshow.com.au

Indemnity Form: A signed Indemnity Form must be completed & signed by all competitors. Forms available from the 'Documents & Downloads' tab on Showday Online and are to be attached in the 'Select Extras' section, when placing your entry.

Stable Bookings:  To book stables, the Stable Booking Form must be completed and attached to your entries through Showday online or emailed to secretary@swanhillshow.com.au once entries have been done.

Entry Confirmation: Emailed straight back to you.

Alterations that need to be made are to be reported to the office as soon as possible.

Breed Entries: Must be accompanied by a copy of registration papers & memberships - these will be checked with breed organisations online or through breed websites (Late entries are required to have a copy of registration papers & membership at ringside to be checked) 

Stallions: must always be suitably bitted & in hands of an adult at all times.


ENTRY FEES 

Pre-Entry Fees: $5.50 per class.

On the Day Entry Fees: $11 per class, unless the exhibitor has Pre-Entries and paid the Competitor Pass fee before closing date.

Competitor Pass: $33. All competitors MUST pay this fee for entry.

 (Includes 1 adult entry ticket for both Show days, with any extra On the Day entries costing the same as Pre-Entry fees. This Pass can ONLY be purchased with pre-entries before closing date. Entrants on the day are required to pay the On the Day entry fee, plus show gate tickets per person.)

 

 STABLES

Stable fees: $11 per stable, per night

Cleaning Fees: $22 per stable

(Please Note: Cleaning fee will be refunded after stable have been cleaned & approved by Show Staff prior to departure. Refund will be given by direct deposit, within a week after the event.)

Stables: Must be booked & paid in full with entries. Unpaid stable bookings will not be allocated. Preference will be given to competitors whose travel distance is greater than 100kms for Swan Hill.

Preference will also be given to stallions. Please state when booking if it is a stallion. Bedding not supplied, please arrange your own. 

Camping: $5.50 per night for camping vehicles. No car parking on the grounds. Please note there is no power available.

Vehicles without floats are not permitted on the grounds.

Measuring: Current EA, RAS & SHC measuring cards will be accepted & must be produced on request. The right is reserved to re-measure if needed.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Riders MUST ALWAYS wear an approved safety helmet, as approved by Equestrian Australia’s current standards, for helmets, when mounted. The retaining harness must be properly secured to the shell at two points, always adjusted and fastened. 
  •  Riders without an approved helmet shall be ineligible to compete until rectified. 
  • The use of any banned FEI substances is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show & that testing of all animals is at the owner’s expense. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under veterinary supervision. 
  • The committee reserves the right to alter the program if necessary.
  • All falls regardless of injury MUST complete an incident report form, which is to be lodged with the Event Administrator, on the day of incident.

 

DEFINITIONS

NOVICE - A horse that whilst competing singularly has never won a similar class at any Agricultural Show or affiliated EFA Show.

ELEMENTARY - A horse that, whilst competing singularly may have won a novice/open class but has never won an open championship in its particular height group at any Agricultural Show or an affiliated EA Show.

INTERMEDIATE - A horse that, whilst competing singularly has never been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a similar class at any Royal Show in Australia

PLEASURE RIDDEN - to be ridden in a snaffle.

FIRST SEASON - to be ridden in a snaffle.

HUNTERS - preferred to be in a plain browband.

EA ruling - No pony, galloway, hack to be ridden in any events under the age of 3 years.

Show Hunter Classes - A Show Hunter has more substance than the modern fine hack/pony, but still maintains quality, with bold movements & reliable temperament. A gallop may be required. Exhibits competing in Open classes are ineligible for Show Hunter classes and vice versa.
